Well. I'm Thirty. And some of us are taking it harder than I am!
"30 is the new 40...just sayin'!" That's what my thoughtful, younger, brother wrote in my birthday card. And boy do these girls make me feel like I'm 40 by the end of the day!
I've had the Tim McGraw song, "In My Next Thirty Years," stuck in my head all week. Except, instead of wanting to do things differently in my next thirty years, I'd prefer it if things would just stay the way they are. I wish Buggy would stay her rambunctious, curious toddler self, and that Lulu would stay my sweet, chubby baby who thinks Mommy is the greatest thing ever. I hope Doug and I remain the rockin' couple that we are, and I hope that I don't get any more grey hairs. Or wrinkles.
Since this is one of those "Milestone Birthdays," I decided to take an entire week to celebrate, and not just one day. For me, celebrating means eating lots of junk food and being lazy with my girls, my man and my family. And that's what I did. And it was fabulous. I feel rested, I'm 5 pounds fatter and I've never been happier!
On Saturday, my actual birthday, I spent time with the family and then Doug and I went out to a nice dinner and an "Oktoberfest" street party afterwards. It was nice to take a shower and wear something other than sweat pants, and it was really nice to eat a great meal, that didn't involve using the microwave! Of course, the best part was getting to spend 5 hours with Doug, alone!
Buggy was hiding behind us, covered in stickers and candy corn drool!
Living it up with our ginormous beer steins!
Is it lame that I made my own birthday cupcakes? I had a helper who would have been very upset and confused if cupcakes weren't served during Mommy's birthday party!
Buggy certainly enjoyed all the junk food this week! Cupcakes, chips and dip, pizza...
Waiting for Gigi to come over (looking out the mail slot). I didn't have the heart to tell her that she wasn't coming until the following morning!
A failed attempt at a cute pumpkin picture.
Mommy's birthday pumpkins!
Aside from our wild night out Saturday, (we were home by 11pm!!), we spent the rest of the week vegging. And we've got that perfected! Bug especially enjoyed getting to pretend to go ni-night in Lainey's crib!
Buggy has been on a "Scary Monster!" drawing kick. She's gotten very good at drawing them! (They look like ghosts, but who cares!) I didn't help her at all! She's very meticulous about drawing the Monster's face! Sometimes it's a happy monster or a sad monster, but most of the time, it's a scary monster!
A lazy week means lots of coloring and of course, Play doh! She spent most of the time licking her fingers!
While Bug was getting her salt fix, I snapped a few cute pics of Lulu in her pumpkin jammies.
But someone got jealous!
Thank you to my incredible family for making this the best birthday ever!
