Lainey's Baptism October 30, 2011

Lainey was baptised today at Third Presbyterian Church, October 30, 2011, by Corey Widmer, the same church and pastor who performed Hailey's baptism two years ago.  Gigi, Babu and Uncle Poogie came to the ceremony with us and afterwards we had lunch at our house.  Lainey was absolutely perfect and collected lots of praise and adoration from the congregation during and after the ceremony.  And Hailey did great sitting through the service with us.  She even decided to come up and stand with us during the baptism!  She was fascinated with "Lainey's water!" and kept asking about it while the pastor and Elder, our friend, Kathy White, were praying for us!  It was a beautiful ceremony and of course, Mommy (and Babu!!) were misty eyed!

It was such a beautiful ceremony!  Even Buggy felt moved to praise the Lord!

4 Month Stats, Halloween Parties, House Hunting and Big Girl Beds!

How is October over already?  This month has just flown by, and now I've already seen two Christmas commercials on TV and the Christmas decor is up on the shelves at Kroger!  Exciting, yes.  Stressful, YES!  Between our already busy lives, I've been juggling sick children, doctor's visits, organizing Lainey's baptism for tomorrow and oh, by the way, finding a new place for us to live by next month (long story, for another blog post), I've barely had time to exhale!  How am I ever going to find time for Chirtmas cards, decorations and gifts?!!  Here's a recap of our busy (again!) week:

Daddy had his annual Harris Williams Halloween party and the girls bumble bee costumes were a big hit!  Bug had fun saying "Trick or Treat" to everyone, but would have preferred "weegles" (ice cubes) in her bag instead of candy!  Lainey was a little groggy because she was running a low fever from all the shots she had during her 4 month well visit earlier that day :(  The highlight of the afternoon was watching Bug and Caroline trick or treat together!

This week was Halloween week at preschool and Hailey had fun learning the song "Five Little Pumpkins" and doing special Halloween crafts.  She was very excited to show me her picture of the five little pumpkins sitting on a gate, and she had memorized the whole story!

We also switched Hailey over to a big girl bed this week.  She didn't climb out yet, but instead would wake us up in the middle of the night, crying because she was stuck on top!  She stays in her bed, and doesn't get out...at all!  I showed her the camera that is above her bed (for our video monitor) and I told her that I'm always watching her.  So, she spends most of the time laying there, staring up at the camera!

Bug, sitting in her new favorite spot to watch TV.  (The Big Stroller, with a snack in the snack tray, watching "Juice Box" aka Sponge Bob Square Pants.  He does kind of look like a juice box!)

Ready to go outside in the rain!

Rosy cheeked and red nosed after a trip outside with Daddy.  It was very cold today!

Little Lulu had her 4 month checkup this week and as Dr. Nelson said, "She's a solid baby!"  She's growing right on track, and is more smiley and social than most babies her age, according to the doctor.  She also said that Lainey was a strong and solid baby!  For a baby who was considered premature and wasn't even on the charts for weight when she was born, Lulu sure has caught up!  And chub isn't the only thing she's been growing...sigh...yep.  She's got her Daddy's head.  And the little red bump on her lip is called a hemangioma.  It's a small birthmark that should come off by the time she's one, but if it doesn't, or it gets bigger, we can have a dermatologist take it off.  She's also teething already, according to Dr. Nelson.  I'm  not surprised because I'm sure she's ready to bite into a big chicken leg or hamburger, judging from the way she's been eating!  She's already successfully eaten cereal, oatmeal, squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, prunes, apples and bananas.  Dear Lord, please let Lainey be my "good eater!"  Her sister lives off of hotdogs, nuggets, cheese cubes and fruit!

Weight: 14 pounds (25-50 %)
Height:  24 1/4" (25-50 %)
Head:  17" (90 %!!!!!!!!!!!)

It's a good thing Lainey had that birthmark, because in a few years, it's the only way we're going to be able to tell the difference between her baby pictures and Buggy's!!

Happy Halloween to you, and Happy house hunting to us!!

No Big Chicken?!

Well, a double ear infection for Ms. Bug and bad colds for the rest of us brought our busy week to a screeching hault.  And at around 3am this morning, I began to think that we were overdoing it a bit with all the Halloween talk because Buggy woke everyone up when she began screaming "Mommy!!" at the top of her little lungs.  Doug and I shot out of bed faster than a speeding bullet and came to her rescue.  She told me she was scared, and before we knew it, she was snuggled up between us, snoring.  It wasn't until this afternoon when I tried to put her down for a nap that I realized, she must have had a nightmare.  About a big chicken.  She kept saying, "No big chicken!"  And she did the same thing tonight before bed.  Now she has a nightlight, and knows that Mommy and Daddy are watching her in the video monitor, and she's been told endlessly that there are no big chickens in her room.  Bless her sweet heart.  And darn you Big Chicken!

Besides Little Scientists camp on Tuesday, a trip to the doctor on Wednesday and preschool on Friday, we had a pretty low key week.  We're all feeling better and we're coming out of our sick daze and I'm looking forward to getting back into our routine next week.  Minus ballet and few playdates just so we can keep our sanity!

Lulu turned 4 months on the 11th and she is becoming more and more fun with each day!  She loves to sing and giggle and has been reaching, grabbing and hitting her toys.  She really wants to roll over from her back to her tummy, but is still trying to figure out what to do with her arms.  I've started to stop "dreamfeeding" her before I go to bed, and she's still been sleeping from 7pm-7:30am!

Some pictures of Bug at Little Scientists camp.  She loves this class and the teachers are great with her!  This week they had a Halloween theme and below is a picture of the kids pretending to be bats hanging upside down!  (Bug is in the back right corner)

Here are a few pictures of Hailey at "pweskool".

Should Doug be concered that she's always playing with boys?

Daddy and Bug in her favorite Dora shirt, waiting for the "Big Truck" aka recycling truck.

Daddy and his Little Pumpkins.

Hailey has been enjoying opening all of her Halloween cards.  Especially the one from Grandma Eileen because it had money in it!

"What's this?"

"It smells."

"Here Mommy!"  Atta girl!

Excited about going to Little Scientists camp.  She seems pretty chipper even though she had a double ear infection!  I didn't know she was so sick until I picked her up from class and she pointed to her ear and said, "hurt!"

Feeling much better after 48 hours of antibiotic and ready to visit Teacher Ann and Teacher Mary Beth at pweskool.

Waiting for Daddy to come home so we could carve her pumpkin!

"Daddy!  Where are you?!"

Very proud of her pumpkin!

"Happy Halloween! And NO BIG CHICKENS please!"
