Certainly A Birthday To Remember...

Buggy's second birthday has certainly been one to remember!  I don't know many 2 year olds out there that can survive spending the eve of their birthday getting stitches in the Pediatric ER Unit at St. Mary's Hospital and still be full of smiles, spunk and good spirits!  To make a long story short, Bug had a less than desirable encounter with our friends doggy during our playdate yesterday afternoon (whom she still loves to pieces, and I'm sure was just playing with her!) which ended with Bug getting two stitches in her chin*.  Fortunately, Gigi, Babu and Uncle Poogie were already on their way to our house to help put together birthday bikes, trikes, scooters and toys (which for obvious reasons, has yet to be done!)  And they were able to meet me at the ER since Daddy was out of town for work.  Buggy was so brave and spent the majority of the time making friends with the doctors, nurses and hospital staff.  She seemed to be more upset about the fact that she had to wear a hospital wristband, than she was about the dog bite!  In fact, I'm pretty sure I was crying and more traumatized by the event than she was!  By the time we got home, it was after 8pm and we ended up eating Bug's pre-birthday McDonald's dinner out of the back of Babu's pickup truck, while we watched Bug ride around on her new Dora the Explorer Powerwheel that Gigi and Babu got her! We looked like a bunch of rednecks, but we didn't care one bit!  Once it was too dark to play outside, we headed inside and Uncle Poogie gave Bug a fish for her birthday.  He's since been named "Fishies"-very unoriginal, but that's what she calls him, and she loves it!  Then Daddy came home with lots of hugs and kisses for the both of us (my pregnancy hormones kept me crying for hours!) and we all headed to bed for some much needed sleep.

Today, on Bug's 2nd Birthday, we woke up late, stayed in our jammies and played with some new birthday toys.  And that's all we're doing...for the rest of the week for that matter!  It's going to be a good month or two before this little girl gets a timeout, or any type of scolding!

*(I was hesitant to even blog about this because I know my sweet friend feels so terrible already!  Fortunatley, Buggy is going to be just fine, and since we use the blog as our scrapbook/babybook, I felt like we had to document this - even though I'm sure I'm never going to forget it, but I think Buggy has!)

Pre-stitches picture. Showing off her new birthday haircut!

Testing out her new wheels with Gigi and Babu.

Big Mama and Uncle Poogie stuffing our faces while Buggy does laps around the playground.

As you can see, I was still crying over 3 hours later, but Bug doesn't seem to be phased one bit!

Sporting her hospital band, Sesame stickers and Dora helmet for Babu.  She loves the helmet and wants to wear it all the time.  She calls it her "hat".

Checking out her new fish from Uncle Poogie.

Watching "shows" and playing with toys...our "to do" list for the next couple of days.

The next morning, after a long night of Tylenol dosing and hugs from Mommy and Daddy.

Red and swollen, but still in good spirits!

  2. Gosh...that IS an eventful day! Glad she wasn't traumatized at all, and I hope you and your poor friend get over it soon, too. That's a tough girl you've got there. Happy Birthday, Bug!
