To say that the week of Buggy's second birthday was busy would be quite the understatement. But on top our massive "to-do" list we both managed to catch pretty nasty colds. We've been walking around like snotty, sneezy, fevery zombies, wiping each others noses and saying bless you every 5 minutes (although Buggy's sounds more like "bwess shoe Mama"!) Fortunately, Daddy, the man who usually can't even be in the same state as anyone with a cold, hasn't gotten sick yet...
Hailey and I have been busy writing thank you cards and switching out new toys from her birthday. (I always hide some so she doesn't get bored with them!) On her list of fabulous presents was a Kettler Trike from Grandma and Grandpa Kinard, a Mini Razor Scooter from Aunt Kelly and Uncle Dan, a Dora the Explorer Powerwheel from Gigi and Babu, and of course her favorite fish, "Fishies" from Uncle Poogie that I'm amazed I haven't accidentally killed yet! Most of her toys are stored away until her little sister gets here so she has some new and exciting things to keep her occupied.
Included in our busy week was a few routine trips to the doctor to check on Bug's baby sister. She's growing great and has a great heartbeat, in the 150's (and some pretty strong kicks and punches too!) Because she hasn't been feeling well, Bug has been waking up every two hours for the past few nights, which is certainly bringing back all those fond memories of sleepless nights with a newborn...joy.
Hailey's boo-boo is slowly starting to fade, and I was sure she had forgotten the incident entirely, until we went on our hospital tour yesterday. She was fine until we started to tour the ER unit. She was clinging to us like a koala! We briefly hung around to hear where Daddy has to drop me off on D-Day and then we decided that we've seen enough of that wing of the hospital! Once we left the ER Bug was back to her normal self again. Which meant she was running up and down the halls jumping and screaming with joy flying by all the rooms with the "Shhh New Mom Resting" signs! I'm sure in just the short 45 minutes we were there, we managed to send at least half of those parents-to-be into panic mode!
We also had Bug's 2 year well visit this week with her favorite doctor, Dr. Nelson. She's growing great and managed to show off all her counting and spelling skills for her! At 24 months Bug is just over 33 inches and weighs 25lbs8oz, both are in the 25th percentile, which she's been her whole life. And of course, for the record, her head still clocks in at the 90th percentile!
By her 2nd birthday, Buggy can easily and quickly count to 15 in English and 10 in Spanish. She knows her ABC's, numbers, shapes and colors. Lately, her favorite songs are the ABC song and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (both of which we sing at least 15 times a day!) She loves jumping, running and doing donkey kicks and her favorite places to play are Gigi and Babu's house and The Little Gym. She's putting new sentences together everyday, and just this week she walked right up to me while I was making the bed and asked "Mommy what you doing?" I was shocked to look down at my baby and see this little girl standing there carrying on a conversation with me! She's started to become much more nurturing with her baby dolls, feeding them, changing "diapees", and "rock-a-byeing" them to sleep. Perhaps there is hope for her little sister after all!

I can't imagine this year being any better than the past 2 years have been, but something tells me the best is yet to come!
