We're pregnant and it's a BOY!
If you live within 40 miles from us, this is probably old news to you. That's because we made the brilliant decision to bring our 2, 4 and 6 year old with us to our first ultrasound appointment. We made a family pact to keep this exciting news top secret until the summer. All parties agreed and we were on our way. Two hours later I had people hugging me and congratulating me and 4 and 6 year old in tears because they were busted. Oh well. How were we really supposed to expect our little people to keep such a BIG secret anyways?! Besides Miss Hargis' kindergarten class and the St. Stephen's Green Room, they managed to keep it secret from the rest of the world. So for that, we're impressed.
We're 13 weeks pregnant and because my magical 35th birthday falls before little baby's due date, I am considered "Advanced Maternal Age" aka geriatric! I was also diagnosed with moderate to severe Rheumatoid Arthritis right before we found out we were pregnant, so that has me under the doctor's microscope a little more as well. Therefore, they did a few more labs on me this time around, one of which can determine the gender of this tiny person growing inside of me. Needless to say, when the nurse called me I was speechless. Then I called her back a few hours later and asked her to make sure was looking at the right chart. After verification from the doctor on the ultrasound, I'm starting to become a believer! I'm still not painting the nursery until I see him in person though...
No. We weren't "trying" for a boy. I cringe when people ask me that question. We love girls. We've got the girl thing down.
Yes. The girls are excited about having a younger sibling. (Especially Avery!)
No. They are not happy it's a boy. In fact, they cried because they were looking forward to dressing up their new baby in dresses and bows.(Especially Avery! She wanted a "pink baby with a bow")
Yes. We are crazy.
Yes. We know how babies are made.
Yes. This new journey is going to be amazing.
