We've started the beginning stages of potty training in our house, and I can already tell that it's going to be one long battle...uphill...in the snow...blindfolded...you get the picture. It ain't gonna be easy!
We've got the potty, and the big girl Dora undies for motivation, and we've made a little progress by actually doing a poopie in the potty (but she did have to run around outside for awhile butt naked, and sit on the potty for a good 15 minutes, with a juice box and her DVD player for it to happen, but it DID happen nonetheless!) We're only doing the potty 3 times a day. In the morning after breakfast, after naptime and while I'm getting her bath ready. So far, we haven't had anymore success, but at least she's getting used to the idea.
We've also stared a chore/star chart to help with eating dinners and picking up toys. She gets to put a star on the chart each time she eats most of her lunch and dinner and when she picks up her toys and she gets an extra special star if she goes potty. At the end of the day, if she has 3 stars she gets to have some cookies or icecream before bed (less than 3 stars means no treat! I'm such a mean Mommy!) Today is our first day trying it out, and so far, she's racked up 2 stars before naptime! I'm sure the excitement will wear off after a couple of days, but so far, it's been helping.
Lainey didn't want to be outdone by her big sister, so she decided that she wanted to start sleeping for 12+ hours at night so Mommy and Daddy would make a big fuss over her too! She goes to bed at 7pm and I try to feed her a little bit before I go to bed around 10pm and the she doesn't wake up again until after 7pm. She still takes 3 solid naps a day too! Rock star!
Running around sans diapee during our Labor Day cookout with Gigi, Babu and Uncle Poogie.
Doing her "business". She's going to hate me when she's a teenager for taking this picture!
Playing with her Mr. Pototo Head Play-doh kit as a reward for doing a poopie.
Lainey, wide eyed and bushy tailed after another long night of sleep!
It's the day after Labor Day, and all the schools are starting back up, including the one across the street. It's a really rainy day out, so we're going to stay in our pj's and have some girl time. Bug's been enjoying looking out the window at the kids and the "big rain" and I've been enjoying the extra snuggle time on the this rainy day.
First it's a poopie in the potty, and before we know it, she'll be asking for the car keys! These girls are getting too big, too fast!
