I'm A Big Sister!

Hey Everybody!  Something is a little different in my house!  Mommy and Daddy came home from the hospital with a tiny baby and they call her Baby Lainey.  Mommy said she's my new baby sister, and I'm Baby Lainey's Big Sister.  I wasn't really sure what to think of my new baby sister at first, but now I'm starting to think that she's pretty cool.

When Lainey got here, Mommy and Daddy had to get a new "Big Stroller" so that we can both go for walks.  I love the Big Stroller, especially when Daddy takes us for a walk in it!

(Mommy thinks Daddy looks cute in this picture!)

I like the new stroller so much, that I usually cry when it's time to go inside!

I can tell that Mommy has been really tired taking care of my baby sister (she cries all the time, and doesn't like to sleep at night!) so I've been helping Mommy out a lot.  I really like helping Mommy change Baby Lainey's diapees!

And I like to give my new baby sister lots of kisses!

Baby Lainey even got m a new Dora the Explorer dollhouse!

I still don't understand why I can't fit into Baby Lainey's clothes.  I remember wearing them when I was a baby, and want to wear them now too!  I got pretty upset when Baby Lainey's socks wouldn't go on my feet!

I'm still a little mad at Mommy for bringing home this new baby, because I don't get as much attention from Mommy anymore.  Daddy is my favorite person right now and I'm always asking about him and looking for him out the window!

I also don't know why Mommy won't let me play with Baby Lainey's toys either!  They were my toys first, so sometimes I'll get in them when Mommy isn't looking!  (I wanted to go night-night in the pink chair like my baby sister does!)

Mommy feeds my baby sister under her shirt, and sometimes I try to feed my babies like that too!

I like to sit by my baby sister and watch shows with her.

She has really tiny hands that I love to hold!

And even her bows are tiny!

But most of the time, she just sleeps...and is kind of boring!

Mommy told me to "say cheese" when she was taking our picture, and this is the face I made!

I think baby Lainey's favorite show is Dora too!  Here we are watching it together!

My baby sister likes to suck her thumb, and I like to suck my fingers!

Sometimes, I'll even share my favorite blankie, "gigi" with her!

I really like how Baby Lainey has been getting lots of toys in the mail!  Since she's too small to play with them right now, Mommy lets me "borrow" them!

So far, being a Big Sister has been pretty fun, and having a Baby Sister hasn't been all that bad afterall!

(But that's because I know that I'm still the cutest!!)

What Day Is It?

The first week of Lainey's little life seems like one blurry, long day to this Mama!  I couldn't tell you what day of the week it is today if you paid me!  My new reality now consists of lots of diapers, 'round the clock nursing, monitoring Buggy's attempts to "help" Mommy with the baby and absolutely NO sleeping!  As exhausting as it may have been, it's still been a fantastic week and a half!  Buggy has been amazing.  She already loves Lainey and really wants to help Mommy with her new baby sister.  She's been a little more spunky and rambunctious lately (think wild donkey, hopped up on sugar!) but it's hard to tell if it's because of her new sister, or all the attention she's been getting from her Grandparents!

Lainey has continued to be a nursing rock star.  She's already well past her birth weight and going strong!  I don't want to speak too soon, but it seems like she may be our easygoing child.  So far, she's been completely opposite of her big sister.  Two hours of pushing with Buggy vs.  two minutes of pushing with Lulu.  Weeks worth of unsuccessful lactation consults/attempts at nursing with Buggy vs.  perfect nursing sessions every 2-3 hours resulting in milk induced coma naps with Lulu!  (not to mention the fact that I'm making enough milk to feed and entire village!)  First night home with Buggy consisted of hours and hours of blood curdling screams and Mommy and Daddy crying from exhaustion vs a very quiet first night home with Lulu.

We were so fortuntate to have lots of help from Grandparents this week while we began our transition to a family of four.  Grandpa Kinard stayed with us for 10 days and Grandma Kinard and Aunt Kelly came to visit for 3 days.  Gigi, Babu and Uncle Poogie also made a few trips up to help entertain Bug.  It was so nice to know that Bug was being given the attention that she craves and kept happy while Lainey and I had time to get into a routine.

Jumping for joy over being a Big Sister!

Bug was a little nervous about touching her baby sister at first.

She would only give her "air kisses."

But by the end of the week, we had to use the phrase "be gentle" a little too much!  She loves lovin' on that sweet baby!

Bug also loves playing with Lainey's toys!

And has developed a love for baby dolls and strollers!

"The Help" this week!  Not sure how we would have managed without them!

Bug's favorite part about the Kinard's visit was the trip to the pool!

Hailey has also been enjoying all the yummy meals that the HW wives have been bringing us because a lot of them have been coming with presents for her and Lainey!

Sharing her presents with her sister.  I still don't know of any other two year olds who share as well as Bug!

Showing off her medal from Little Gym.  Poor Buggy had to miss her LG graduation because of Lainey's birth.

First comes the double stroller.  Next, the mini-van!

This is how we'll roll up to the park for now, until Lainey can hold her her head up on her own!  Then we'll take the car seat off and add the other seat.

Lainey was not a fan of her first bath.

She liked taking her "bathies" with her big sister a lot better.

Sweet Lulu.

Sisterly love.

Nope.  I couldn't tell you what day of the week it is, or what's been happening on Real Housewives for the past 2 weeks.  But I can tell you that my heart is filled to the brim with love for these two, sweet little girls, and their amazing Daddy.  Life is good.
