Clingy Koala

Lately, when she's not running around like a spirited, wild donkey, Bug can be found clinging to Mommy like a baby koala.  I can't leave a room (or go potty! which is quite frequently nowadays!) without her having a mini meltdown!  During our afternoon playdate at our house yesterday with the Carolines (her two very best girlfriends, whom she sees all the time) Bug spent the majority of the time sitting on my lap, clinging to me, and saying "Mama!"  I guess it didn't help when the very next morning, we had three of her friends from music class come over with their Mommies so we could all turn our playroom into a chaotic circus full of toddlers!  This time, Buggy was either in my lap (clinging to me for dear life), in another room "observing" quietly from a safe distance with her fingers in her mouth, or balled up in the fetal position in the middle of the playroom floor!  Part of me enjoys the attention, because Bug is not an affectionate, cuddly, huggy type of child.  But it does make me a little nervous about what's in store for us when her little sister enters the picture in 12 weeks!

I'm not sure where she gets all her energy, but I sure do wish she could give some of it to me!  This morning, while I was getting dressed for our playdate (which basically means, changing out of the black stretchy pants and Doug's oversized t-shirt that I wore to bed, and putting on clean (or semi-clean!) black stretchy pants and another one of Doug's t-shirts!) Buggy kept herself busy by running back and forth in her room over and over again.  She would touch one wall and run to the other side of the room while counting to five...IN SPANISH!  That was the first sign that she's been watching a little too much Dora.  The second red flag was when she finished her dinner last night and then proudly said, "Yum, yum, yum!  Delicioso!"

When she wasn't doing laps, she was modeling her glasses for me.  Not sure why she insists on putting them on upside down!

Or sitting quietly in her chair, looking sweet and innocent.  This is the face she likes to use on her Daddy!  She learned from the best!

Then we went downstairs to "warm up" for our playdate.  She started by doing a series of tricks she's been mastering over the past few weeks.

1) The no hands trick.

2) The twist/jump trick.

3) The "fall down" trick.

This is the only picture I mangaged to take in the midst of all the chaos this morning.  Despite being a little timid, Bug had lots of fun with these kiddos and I had a great time chatting with their Mommies!

After our friends left, Daddy came home for some lunch and some play-doh fun.

Bug was very meticulous while creating her masterpiece.  She was breathing heavily, staring intently and placing the play-doh precisely where she wanted it.

When she was done she said "Ooooh.  Look!  Puppies!"  I can totally tell that her sculpture was of the puppies!  Can't you?

One thing's for certain, she sure does keep us entertained around here!  There's never a dull (or quiet!) moment in our house!

And that suits us just fine (most of the time...)
