We Did It!

We did it and boy has it been a long year and a half! The process of finding this house, buying this house, clearing nearly an acre of overgrown bamboo/debris/metal sheds, gutting, designing and completely renovating this house, selling our previous house and living in limbo all summer long has worn us out!  (All on top of our normal day to day crazy raising four small children!)

Our home is nearly 100 years old and was built by the previous owners father.  The former owner was a sweet elderly woman who loved the Lord and serving others as a missionary, but unfortunately she was also an extreme hoarder and the home was condemned on more than one occasion.  We had our work cut out for us, but we knew it would be worth it.  We aren't finished yet, and we could use a shrub or two (Ha!) but the hard work is done and we are finally resting in the fruits of our labor, on our favorite street in Richmond, a mile away from school!

A Few Before/After Pictures

Trucks! Trucks! Everywhere!

The process was LOUD, MESSY and totally ENTERTAINING to our two year old son!  Our kids have loved the excitement, but this introvert is drained and ready to be in my house ALONE! for awhile.

Neighboring!

We went door to door with our moving announcements, handmade cards and pumpkins, introducing ourselves to our new neighbors (and apologizing for the noise!) Everyone has been so nice and we feel so welcomed on Pope Avenue!

Every major race comes down our historic street, and the kids love to cheer on the racers!

Getting Settled

We are all enjoying getting settled and soaking up some much needed R&R in our new home.

We've been LOVING our quiet street and big yard!

The Kinard pool is the new popular hangout spot!

Fun with Friends!

We seem to have a revolving door of kids ever since we moved in and the kids have loved it!

The porch swing is pretty popular too!

HOME!

It feels so good to call this labor of love our forever home.  We can wait to see what this new chapter has in store for us.
