Valentine's (Eve) Surprise for Daddy
Doug has been travelling a lot and working very hard for our sweet family.  The girls wanted to make him a special surprise for when he got home late the night before Valentine's Day.

Spreading the Love as Offering Helpers

Hailey's sunday school class had fun making a lions den when they learned about Daniel.
Ready for Sunday school!

Finding Neverland

Hailey was so happy to run into her BFF Charlotte there!

School Days

Smart Cookies!

Hailey is a math whiz!

And loves to read!
Lainey is a great reader too!  She loves reading to Avery.  Avery is very impressed ;)

Fake glasses add a touch of intelligence to pottery making!

Now that we have two readers in the house, it's fun to watch them read our blog books.  They love looking at when they were babies.  It makes them laugh, and me cry!!!
We Love Our Teachers!

Pan

The girls loved watching their school play, PAN!

Literature Week

During literature week at school the girls had "Stop, drop and read" where they would ring a bell during the day and everyone had to stop, drop and read.  They also had fun homework like reading in wacky place or with as many stuffed animals as possible.  Hailey liked reading Peter Rabbit to her siblings.
They also got to dress like a chararcter from a book they've read (2nd grade) or nursery rhyme they've learned (kindergarten).  Hailey went as Sarah Noble and Lainey of coursed dressed up as Mary had a little lamb!

Mrs. Earman's Second Grade Class

100th Day of School

Kindergarten had a fun party to celebrate the 100th day of school.

They played fun games counting to 100, brought in 100 objects and made necklaces with 100 cheerios.

Caleb really liked Lainey's cheerio necklace...

Make New Friends but Keep the Old!

Afterschool fun with friends!

Lainey had a great time at her friends birthday party! They had dance parties.

Pin the tail on the bunny.

And she even won the sack race!

2nd Grade field trip to the VFMA.  Posing as a figure from the Terracotta Army.

Hailey's made lots of fiends during basketball and has become a pretty awesome shooter!

There they go. Heads held high as if they've been at this new school for years!  I'm so proud of them.

Even though we've been trying hard to make new friends at Veritas, we will always make time for our old friends! Hailey had a great time at Charlotte's birthday slumber party!

And the girls loved cheering Kaitlyn on during her play.  Can you believe she was a frog??!!

Our Green Room Girl!

Valentine's day cupcakes!

Guessing how my pieces of candy were in the jar.  Avery's favorite part of this activity was that they got to eat candy at the end!

Making mice for the nursery rhyme Hickory Dickory Dock.

Music with Ms. Dawn.  (It's Avery's favorite part of the week!)

Making shadows on the wall while learning about Groundhog day.
Voting for which book they would read.
After school tea party playdate with her BFF Marfa.

Happy Half Birthday Avery!

We celebrate everything in this family!  Even half birthdays!  Especially if it involves Mommy, Daddy and Caleb bringing cupcakes and balloons to school!

Wacky Wednesday!

Avery fully embraced Wacky Wednesday at school (with a little help from her sisters!!)

Swim Season Has Begun!

Hailey started swim clinics to get her ready for swim team this summer.  She's moved up to the 9&10 year old group since she will be 9 when swim team starts.  The other kids are twice her size!  They have to bend down to talk to her!! But we are so proud of how well she did.  She's a mighty fast swimmer for such a tiny fish!

Cookies are Here!

Hailey has been busy delivering cookies to all of her customers!

Lainey liked tagging along so she can see what she'll be doing next year when her Daisy troop will also be selling cookies!

Excited about earning her first Daisy petal this month!

Caleb Candids

He LOVES corn!

Superbowl Studmuffin!

Our Tootie!

Avery was so excited for the Olympics to start.  She ran upstairs and got ready and then put on an impressive gymnastics show for us.  I didn't have the heart to tell her that gymnastics wasn't an event this time!

Extra fancy in Mommy's necklace!

Rainbow Brite girl!

A Sad Goodbye

Over the years the girls developed the sweetest friendship with our neighbor Mr. Luther.  His children and grandchildren were grown, and he had a soft spot for our girls.  Multiple times a day I would hear them yell "HI MR. LUTHER!" and they would run out and give him a big hug and tell him about their day.  Then they would give his dog Davy Crockett a good pat on the head. He had pictures that the girls colored for him hanging in his garage and he even mailed them letters.

Sadly Mr. Luther had a serious stroke and passed away a few days later.  The girls were heartbroken.  They sent him cards when he was in the hospital and when we heard of his passing they sent his lovely wife a card.  We took the girls to his funeral, and they were so touched to hear the pastor mention them during his message.  We will miss Mr. Luther.  The neighborhood won't be the same without him :(

Our Not So Romantic Getaway to the Jefferson

Doug and I planned a much needed getaway at Richmond's historic Jefferson Hotel.  Unfortunately, I got sick and spent the entire time in bed!  Poor Doug enjoyed our dinner reservations at their beautiful restaurant as a party of one :(

We manged to take a few pictures before we headed home just to document our attempt at a romantic weekend.

Meanwhile, Gigi and Babu held down the fort at home.  It was Babu's birthday weekend so the girls were happy to help him celebrate!!

So Grateful for This Little Family of Mine
